This is the pronunciation of dyeu-peter which means sky-father and is frequently used in invocations, and relates to Zeu-pater or ‘father Zeus’. This relates to the Sanskrit DyauS-pitR which means sky father as well. Dyu means heaven and is regularly associated as a father (dyauS-pitA) in the Vedas along with the Earth mother, such as dyAvA-pRthvI (Rgveda 4.14.2). In this way, Freedom Cole says the name Jupiter means ‘sky-father’ or ‘heavenly-father’.

Venus comes from the Latin root Vener- which means physical desire, sexual appetite or the qualities exciting desire, seductiveness and charm. The root gives the English word venereal which means ‘pertaining to sexual desire, excitement or intercourse’. Venereal disease refers to sexually transmitted diseases. In a more lofty use of the desire, the English word venerate also comes from this root, which means to worship, revere or solicit a deity. The related Sanskrit root is Van- which means to like, love, wish or desire as well as to win or conquer. This root was used in the Rgveda and other ancient texts in words such as vanana which means longing or desire. The ‘v’ in the root van- is often pronounced as a ‘w’ and relates to the English words wish as well as win. In this way, Freedom Cole says the word Venus relates to sexual desire, intercourse, desire, veneration, and overcoming/winning or the Goddess who is all this.

'Emotional Coaching' Parenting

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> My daughter was complaining that she wanted to get into the back, and I said various not nows and was trying to talk but she was adamant and didn’t stop “I want to get in the back” till it became a loud annoying unable to ignore ring.

So I said to her, I know you miss you mommy, I know you want to be with your mommy in the back” and she replied an instant yes. And I said, you love your mommy and want to be with her and play with her back there, but we have to sit in the carseat till we get to the airport. At the airport you can jump in the back and play for a few minutes, but right now I need you to stay in your seat. She asked in a child’s tone of curiosity, “why?” and I explained the policeman said you need to be in that seat. I know in India and Peru we don’t have to be in the seat but here we have to be in the seat, and when we get to the airport, I’ll let you in the back to play with mommy, is that ok. And she gave me a happy yes. And actually didn’t ask again.

http://www.amazon.com/Raising-Emotionally-Intelligent-Child-Parenting/dp/0684838656/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301248779&sr=8-1

Time of Eclipse (Vimardaardha)

The globe which becomes the cause of eclipsing another body is called the chhaadaka (the obscuring object). This will cause different magnitudes of an eclipse according to the anomaly of the Moon from the Earth and the exact alignment of luminaries with the ecliptic. The map which shows the projection of the eclipse is called the chhedyaka. The time from the apparent conjunction till the end of the eclipse is called vimardaardha (the measure of obscuration/ devastation). The time of complete eclipse is called nimiilana or the closing of the eyes. The luminary’s emergence from the eclipse is called Unmiilana or the opening of the eyes. This is symbolic of ignorance obscuring (chhaadaka) the mind which doesn’t know its true nature. One first shuts their eyes (nimiilana) to meditate in order to destroy the world (or attachment to it). Then after realization one opens the eyes (unmiilana) to perceive divinity everywhere. The end of the eclipse is called the mokSa, when the luminary is free from the grahaNa.

The New Moon is the conjunction of the Sun and Moon and therefore their union. Shiva’s night is krsna caturdashi, when the consciousness is about to disappear into the emptiness (shuunya). He is meditating on the void, and ready to merge with it. The New Moon is Kali, the dark mother from which everything came yet is now being completely consumed. She is a mother who loves all her children, a mother who is hungry for bringing everyone home. She is the undifferentiating consciousness, where no duality can reside. Her place is beyond thought, which is why the Moon is dark, empty, and unseen.

The Full Moon is Laksmi, the complete Shri shakti in all abundant forms. No mother cannot be found and worshiped in her. The Full Moon is the opposition of the Sun and Moon; they stand apart in full view like a husband and wife at a special event. Visnu and Laksmi live in the world with complete devotion for each other. They represent the balance of all creation, the appreciation of life, and celebration of love.

Sectarianism is a disease of the mind which likes to separate things. The astrologer should be beyond these types of limited perceptions. Visnu washes you like a Mother, and Shiva burns you like a father. Shiva is solar and his path (and Shakti) is the New Moon. Visnu is lunar and his path (and Shakti) is the Full Moon. In either place, only full or new, an eclipse can happen. Realization is possible. The solar eclipse only happens on the New Moon, and the lunar eclipse only happens on the Full Moon.

The solar eclipse has the power of completely awakened perception, the burning of any illusion of separate self. It is absolute vision, not even one to see one, just One awareness. Ramana Maharahi was born during a solar eclipse.

The Lunar eclipse has the power of complete surrender, the falling away of any illusion of separate self. It is the washing away of any self made desires, and having only One presence that moves all things. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born during a lunar eclipse.

Philosophies may say various things, but in the energy of an eclipse, there is nothing to hold onto. One who grasps for the impermanent is lost and suffers. The one who stations themselves in the Unchanging reaches the Supreme Abode (paramaM padam).

Namaste

The Deeper Meaning of Namaste
Namas (namah) literally means to bow, which shows one’s humility before something greater than us out of respect and adoration. On the most mundane level it is a simple salutation in Asian culture. When used in a mantra it means to praise or adore the deity.
Freedom Cole teaches that to give a complete namas is to bow and surrender to the divine. True bowing is to bow before that which is the highest aspect of creation, which is everywhere in everything. Said alone, Namaste is just a salutation. But when consciously used, Namaste can be a reminder to bow to the divine which is in everything, which is in me and which is in you.
Paramhamsa Ramakrisna taught that if you want to find a pearl you look inside a clam, and if you want to find God, then look inside of man. To pay respects or bow to you, is an acknowledgment that I see God inside of you. The Guru teaches that when we fold our hands and say Namaste, we must consciously remember to see that God inside of us.

Online plagiarism

There is so much plagiarism online. I think referencing is relatively a new thing anyway. What they did back in the day was include the name of the text and the author in the book itself. style="font-size:130%;">

The first part is that the sky is the father and creator-simple and clear. The next part is that the ‘center’ is here or present, the word used is nabhi (navel)- my navel is here, I am here in the navel, the middle, the center of the wheel. Some translators have put friend with navel while some put it with mother. To me it reminds me of the Native American saying of “all my relations” when speaking about the earth and its creatures. And that everything with a navel is a relation. It also has the connotation that everything ‘here’ is of the family of father sky.

The Earth is my mother, and she is described as great or expansive- as looking over a vast landscape. Then ‘here’ is described as between earth and sky as if these two were parts of a container holding the poet. And the poet is stretched out (uttAna), looking upwards- either as a baby stretching or a plant reaching upwards growing. It is this place, or containment between earth and sky that is the yoni (place of birth)- as a baby is born from the mother’s yoni- the sky and earth give birth to ‘us’, our beingness. We are cradled in them- and at the same time we are their center.

The last part is intricate; literally it means “here the father put the womb/fetus in the daughter” or “here the father conceived with his daughter”. This has many layers. In mythology the creator god Brahma took Sarasvati as his wife- the only negative of this is that he had created her- by the fact of his creating her she was his daughter…issue of incest-can she be his wife? Another time Brahma fell in love with one of his creations and it was the same case- he was the father as creator- even if he had created with the power of mind- not sexually. The symbolism here is deeper though; the father here is not a physical father but the Sky. The daughter is not a woman but that ‘matter’ which is born in the container between the earth and sky. The father-sky-spirit came into that matter (personified as daughter) with the spirit essence represented by sky and created life. The Father caused the creation to create- he instilled it with life. Sky is our spirit that brings that which would otherwise be mud to life. In this way “Here the father impregnated his creation”-with soul.

<img width='1' height='1' of the female elephant,
Holding the stem of a lotus, with a flower garland around her,
Oh Sacred Fire, bring to me the gold-filled LakSmii,

shining as the Moon 14

Oh Sacred Fire, bring to me that LakSmii who will not leave me,

That gold by which I acquire abundant wealth,

power and the benefits of mankind 15

Note on verse 2:
On the material level, the Lakshmi that doesn’t leave you is a sum of money large enough to keep you in a wealthy position; even if you spend some, money is still with you. She is gold/money and allows one to buy cows and horses. Cows represent investments giving good returns and horses represent vehicles and items that increase business and power. The people indicated are those that help us expand our life. This includes: family, children, friends and employees and servants--all of which are in joyful plenty when there is an abundance of wealth.
On a spiritual level, the Lakshmi that does not leave you is the eternal goddess of universal sustanence; that is, the Prakritti (material nature) making up the whole of creation. It is her effulgent golden form that awakens the spiritual power giving wisdom from knowledge like a cow provides milk. Her effulgence awakens an inner appreciation of life and the vitality symbolized in a horse. It is She that gives life and breath to all of mankind.
The first verse relates to the first tithi, Praatipad, ruled by the Sun. It is also a Nanda tithi, associated with the light of Fire (Agni). This verse is the initial invocation calling Shri, the goddess, to return as the Moon is coming from its new Moon darkness. This tithi is also associated with overcoming scandals, and dealing with the loss of wealth or good name. For the strength of this solar tithi, the effulgence of the devi is praised.
The second verse relates to the second tithi, dvitiya, ruled by the Moon. The Moon is known for its constancy of change, so too the second tithi is known for its constant change on the level of romantic engagements. This verse prays for financial, mental, emotional and spiritual stability. Note on verse 3:

On the material level she is a wealthy goddess who comes with an entourage led by horses and followed by elephants whose marching sound enlivens the heart, like an excited child during a parade. She is invited (invoked) to come and visit and to be present in one’s life and home. On an internal level the horses represent the worldly senses that guide an individual’s mind, and the middle chariot is the body that these horses are leading. In spiritual life when you withdraw the senses back into the mind from which they originate and listen to the internal sound it is a meditation that overcomes and frees the mind in bliss. At this moment you are inviting the Highest goddess into your heart to reside happily inside. It is also said that the elephants represent the flowing of compassion from the Mother.
The third tithi, Tritiya, is ruled by Mars providing a lot of energy; though, tamas by nature, native’s of this tithi are known for its lethargy. On an external level, this verse invokes the motivation of the Mars ruled tithi, and meditation on the inner sound shows the mind how to control itself and find bliss.
Note on verse 4:

The external aspect of this verse invokes the generous nature of the goddess as well as Her beauty. She is bright, her body is youthful, her complexion is similar to a beautiful flower. She grants the wishes of her devotees, and brings contentment. Her place on a lotus is often seen in the Hindu Lakshmi iconography standing on a lotus in the waters of the cosmic ocean. Here she is being invoked standing in her lotus but this refers to the lotus of the Shri Chakra, and the activation of her presence inside, surrounded by the golden walls of the bhupura.

On a internal level, she is the youthful, happy nature from which a smile arises. She is the inner knowing of the divine from which a smile sits on the awakened lips. The verse starts with “Who” which is representative of Brahma who is the ka-akshara, the the material manifestation. Shri sits in the material creation yet sees everything with golden walls. It is her brilliance that satiates the heart of her devotees who call her into the lotus of the the heart chakra.

This verse relates to the fourth tithi, chaturthi, lorded by Mercury. Natives of this tithi are known to be very generous and giving. This verse promotes this love and sharing.

Note of verse 5:

On an external level this verse praises the attractive power of the goddes Shri as she is loved by everyone including divine beings. Everyone wants money. By taking refuge in Shri she is generous and removes poverty. Alakshmi is the opposite of Lakshmi (prosperity), and is sometimes called the her evil sister. Here she is asked to remove this energy of lack as one finds shelter in her. This protection is taken after the Shri Chakra has been installed and activated. She is real and present inside the lotus. The Moon is that which nourishes all vegetation and growth on earth, here she is splendourous like the Moon as it sustains all life- its growth and prosperity.
On an internal level this verse speaks of her brilliance which radiates through the whole being, and all levels of consciousness are blessed by Her. She has been invoked into the heart lotus and then she is surrendered to completely. All sense of lack and inauspiciousness is destroyed in her protection. The deepest lack is the non-awareness of ones own true nature- here we pray she remove our true poverty which is the lack of awareness.

This verse relates to the fifth tithi, panchami, which is ruled by Jupiter and considered very auspicious. It is a tithi associated with wealth and accomplishment and these natives are often successful, though always need to remember gratitude and surrender. As all wealth and accomplishment comes from the supreme which is beyond us.

Note on verse 6:

The outer meaning of this verse first calls Shri the color of Aditya, which is the all providing aspect of the Sun whose energy and warmth manifests all things upon earth. The previous verse she was like the Moon (sustainer) who sustains everything, here she is also the Sun-Aditya (provider) who give all manner of resources. In this way She is the supreme source of all lasting prosperity.
The verse says the bilva fruit is called the king of the forest, this is related to its medicinal properties to cure many diseases. As this came from Shri, it is offered back to her in ritual worship, which is done through the sacred homa fire. The offering of this fruit gives the results of removing poverty and bringing inner clarity so one can understand their dharmic purpose for material prosperity.
The inner meaning of the Aditya color is the goddesses undifferentiated love that shines on all beings. She is the source of all things in this universe. The Bilva tree is connected to the lord of yogis, Shiva, who lives in the forests. Austerities and meditation upon Shri in the inner lotus of the heart gives fruit like the sacred medicinal bilva. When the inner illusions are removed, the outer obstacles can be dissapated.

This verse relates to the sixth tithi, Shashti, which is ruled by Venus. Natives of this tithi will often suffer disease and unrest in their life. This verse can be used as an empowerment for the medicines of the bilva tree. This fruit is beneficial when worshiping Shri and especially beneficial to natives of this tithi.

Note on verse 7:

The outer meaning of this verse asked for material prosperity while be friending the devas. This indicates to protect one from corruption, let the money bring about divine relationship, not the opposite. And let there be fame coming from this. Gems are asked for, and according to the Atharva Veda gems make one a king. Gems remove the negative effects of planets and allow one to rise in life. One is born in their particular country and circumstances, the prayers asks for us to successful with the resources she has given to each of us. Relative to Shri Chakra puja this verse relates to the shanti of the devas in the various parts of the chakra and the chanting (kirtana) of the names of the goddess. On an internal level this verse relates to the internal purification of negative qualities so that good attributes pervade the mind. It is a prayer to have proper control over the senses while one exists in physical incarnation.
This verse can also be translated as invoking he who is a friend of deva (which is refered to as Mahadeva) and this is considerd to be Kubera the lord of wealth. In this way it is not fame that is asked for but the goddess of fame. Therefore we are asking for the lord of riches and the goddess of fame to visit and bless us us.
This verse relates to the seventh tithi, Saptami, which is ruled by Saturn. These natives are known for discontent with their present situation. This verse acknowledges the present birth situation and prayers for success within it. It also invokes the increase of the presence of the devi and her recognition.

Note on verse 8:

The verse speaks about cleaning out dirty aspects of one’s home and surroundings. When things are uncared for and dirty there is the presence of Alakshmi (non-Lakshmi). As Lakshmi is personified money and prosperity, Alakshmi is personified poverty and decay. Before Lakshmi worship the home is cleaned, and on the festival Divali, sacred to Lakshmi, the entire house is thouroughly cleaned to invite Lakshmi who likes her surroundings well cared for. As taught in both Vastu and Feng-shui, by keeping clean surroundings we energetically dispell poverty and misfortune. Piled up trash or clutter stagnates prana and brings ill-fortune.
On an internal level the heart is purified of its desires which attracts all types of suffering. This verse relates to the eighth tithi, Ashtami, which is ruled by Rahu. Fasting is done on this tithi to remove lying, cheating and other Rahu negativities. This verse represents that clearing of old ways or bad habits that are no longer good for an individual. It focuses on clearing out the home, which internally represents the emotional heart, where Rahu is most destructive.

[Notes on verses 9, 10, 13, 14, & 15 not posted]

Note on verse 11:

The first line is a play on words. The word kardama means mud and it is also the name of a Rishi who is said to have carried Lakshmi up from the cosmic ocean during its churning. On one level he is like a father to her, carrying her to meet her husband Viñëu who married her after she appeared. On another level he is the mud on the floor of the cosmic ocean, fertile, and growing the stalk of the lotus which carries Lakshmi always. We praise the sage Kardama and ask to produce like him. He represents the fertile earth which brings forth vegetation becoming the food of all living things. As humans are dust and will return to dust, he is praised as the dust that has become life. We pray to be as creative and productive as the fertile earth. Kardama had a son named Kapila Muni who is the sage of Samkhya philosophy which expounds the process of material creation. The second verse asked for the goddess Shri to reside in the family. This relates to the previous line about one’s procreative ability, may there be children and let them also be prosperous. Kardama is also famous for another feat, he was a yogi living in the forest. He was married to a princess and feeling compassion for her suffering in the forest, he created a grand palace for her with the power of his meditation. This ability to manifest the joys of prosperity is also invoked through this verse.

Note on verse 12:

The sacred waters, or the water devas, are being invoked to bring love and harmony. They are often invoked during marriage occasions when you want there to be love in the home. The God of desire is invited into the home. He is called Chiklita which relates to moisture and the kapha dosha (water humour). It is a name of the god of desire (Kaamadeva). Most pandits desribe that this is because he is the son of Lakshmi and thereby will attract Her to the home. But the first verse asks for love, the second verse is asking for desire, as if let my husband desire me, or let my wife still have desire for me. It is a prayer to keep the romance alive and in the home and between the married couple. This is a task that is related to the goddess Shri to keep the fire alive between a married couple. If Shri is with you you will be happily married, if she is not with you there will be problems and unhappiness. This is seen in Jyotish in the rules related to the Arudha Lagna (AL) and the darapada (A7). When they are in good relationship there is both a happy spouse and a prosperous home.

Buddhastami Correspondance

Buddhastami posted on Tribe.net Fri, January 26, 2007 - 10:55 PM by Bamboo

I got myself an emerald ring, but i really dont know how to dedicate it correctly to Mercury. The easiest muhurta for mantra/remedy/etc is a holiday of the related deity, like Ram navami for Sun remedies.

The emerald can be recharged/purified by putting it in a kalasha of water during the buddhashtami puja. In this way the gold becomes buddhashtami gold and becomes activated to help remove the negative effects of Rahu.

Bamboo, The mantra for you: AUM durbuddhinaashaaya namaH
"praises to the one who removes bad memory/wrong thinking"

Worship Ganesh, then Guru. Fully surrender yourself to the Supreme Guru in the heart of All. Put the ring on a Shiva lingam, offer water and say mrityunjaya 108 times. Then wash with milk, then water again. Then put sandalwood powder in your left hand and close the ring in your palm, do nadi shodanna for 9 times. Then chant proper mantra for number of times of the ashtottari dasha of the planet: Mercury is 17 years- so do 17 malas. Then put on the ring as you are saying the mantra, if you take the ring off, say the mantra when you put it back on.

This is my understanding. Envisioning the form of dharmraaja to worship:
We meditate upon you yamaraaja,
Adorned with ornaments,
Holding a big iron rod,
With a dark complexion like rain clouds ready to burst.
You are lord of the ancestors,
Ruler of the southern direction,
Son of the brilliant Sun-god,
Gracious to good people
Showing your terrible form to evil doers.
Rider of the Buffalo,
Husband of SaMyaminii (self-restraint),
Your power is supreme.

Mantra:
AUM kroM hriiM aaM vaiM vaivasvataaya
dharmaraajaaya Mantra:
For some worshipping the Yama directly may be too much and so he can also be worshiped in a very safe form. Yama, the lord of Dharma takes the form of a mouse to carry Ganesh. So puja and worship of the mouse (Mushika) of the elephant headed god will appease Yama. The mantra for this is:

AUM maM muSikaayai gaNaadhipavaahanaaya Dharmaraajaaya svaahaa

<div
