There is such a beautiful image given in this mantra from the Rg Veda 10.71.4, I had to share:
“Many a one seeing Vac does not really see Vac,
and many a one hearing does not really hear her.
But also, to many does she reveal her body,
like a beautiful clothed bride desiring her husband.”
and many a one hearing does not really hear her.
But also, to many does she reveal her body,
like a beautiful clothed bride desiring her husband.”
(above translation found in Poetry and Speculation of the Rg Veda by Willard Johnson)
Speech/ sound has four levels. Most people are only aware of the surface physical level of speech. But sound (or ‘’the Word’’) as the Vedic goddess (Vaac) created the entire world. Vac is the feminine form of Brahman (10.114.8), the female aspect of the supreme god in the Vedas. Everything is a vibration of Her sound frequencies.
The beautiful clothing represents the external meaning of the words used in speech, or the words used in mantras. But it is those who are aware of the subtle sound vibrations, their meanings and affects who perceive her body. She resides in her unawakened form in the root chakra as the kundalini (or the Sabda-Brahman). Awakening Her, she rises up the spine to meet her husband (Parabrahman) in the crown chakra.
