The Tithi and Sign Relationship
These are some images I made working on teaching the monthly relationship of the lunar phases (tithi). The Moon is full when it is 180 degrees from the astrological Sun. Each month the Sun will be in a different sign, which sequentially makes the Moon become full in a different sign each month.
Each solar month will therefore have its associated full moon and new moon. I have my students take a few minutes to calculate and contemplate where the new and full moon will be for each month of the year. That ensures that the full moon is not a surprise or mystery, but becomes an easily calculated fact.
Full moons are on the outside and new moons are on the inside. Each tithi will fall into a different sign for each month, which can also be seen visually with this image.
