The invasive nature of the NSA is a threat to liberty the founding fathers believed in. The constitution was intended to regulate the negative tendencies of Power and Control with the purpose of avoiding the disease of totalitarianism and the suffering it brings to people, culture, religion and the freedom of healthy expression. If a democratically elected representative is blackmailed with NSA data it is criminal. Richard Nixon was impeached for spying, therefore the American view is that spying is not accepted at any level of authority.

In the timeline below, you can see that the present unregulated and out of control spy networks have been expanding since Rahu dasha began in 2001.
